Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions, if you have another question that isn't answered below we'd love to hear from you.

  • What is PloyMe?

    PloyMe.com.au is a website - duh!

This website will start the Instant Staffing Revolution

  • What is the Instant Staffing Revolution?

PloyMe.com.au is designed to help casual staff find extra temporary, short-term, immediate shifts (translation: CASH!). You set your own availability (to the hour) and instantly become available to work any shift, for any employer, at any location. It costs you nothing to register, and soon employers will be throwing shifts (and cash) your way – REVOLUTIONARY isn't it?

  • So how does it work?

PloyMe.com.au is an introduction service. We introduce people looking for extra work to people looking for extra staff it’s that simple.

(Actually, there's a massive IT system, global server and SMS gateway impressive enough to control a fleet of Russian submarines, but we won't bore you with all the techno gibberish – trust us it just works).

  • So, how do I get these extra shifts?

Employers will use PloyMe.com.au to find search for instantly available staff, and check their skills and previous experience. Once they've found what they need an SMS is sent to the mobile phones of several available PloyMe.com.au users. The first to reply via SMS gets the shift.

  • Can anyone use PloyMe.com.au to find casual work?

    YES

But, you must be an Australian citizen, or hold a valid, current work visa for Australia in order to take shifts through PloyMe.com.au. You will need to confirm your eligibility with each employer by supplying them with your Tax File Number (and a copy of your working visa).

If you are currently in Australia from overseas and hold a current tourist visa you can volunteer for charities and other non-government organizations. Volunteering is a true blue Aussie tradition!

  • What if I don't have a mobile phone?

Job Alerts are also sent via email.

You'll need to check your emails regularly to get the shifts as you'll be racing to reply first and beat all those fancy schmancy mobile phone owners.

  • When I receive a Job Alert, what next?

SMS & Email Job Alerts will outline where the shift is, the duration of the shift, the rate of pay and any uniforms or equipment you might need.

YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE! If you want the shift, reply immediately - first in best dressed.

  • How do I know if I got the shift?

If you are the successful candidate, you will receive a Job Offer via SMS or email, but don't rest on your laurels just yet - YOU MUST REPLY TO THIS JOB OFFER TO GET THE SHIFT!

  • What do I do after replying to accept a Job Offer?

The Job Offer will contain the contact details for the employer. We recommend a quick call to introduce yourself, find out anything else you need to know – a little human contact helps you avoid feeling like a kid on the first day of school.

  • What does my PloyMe rating mean?

Employers get to rate your performance in the job after you have completed your shift. Every rating is averaged out to give you an overall score. This score is your PloyMe rating. Always do the right thing by your Employers.

PloyMe is for people who honestly want to work, if you're just chasing easy money or scamming people your rating will reflect this and no-one will offer you shifts. Why shouldn't the best workers get more money anyway?

  • How much does it cost?

    NOTHING; NADA; FREE; ZIPSKI

The best things in life are free, and we're no different. Casuals will never pay to use our service, we're here to help put cash in your pocket not take it out. Employers pay to advertise positions and to send you SMS messages.

  • Can I work today?

    YES!

First you must be registered, your profile updated with all your skills/experience and your availability confirmed. You can sit back and wait for the offers to roll in or search through available shifts and apply for them yourself.

  • What about Resumes & Interviews?

    FORGET ABOUT THEM!

One day you might need your resume to get a full-time job as a "Professional". But we won't ever need to see it to find you any extra shifts. PloyMe thinks that interviewing casual candidates is a big waste of time!

  • Do I need to wear a uniform?

MAYBE – DOUBLE CHECK WITH YOUR EMPLOYER

Your Job Offer SMS/Email will outline any uniform requirements you may need. Employers might overlook a detail like this if they are in a mad rush (which is often the case when they are short on staff!).

  • How much experience do I need to work?

Experienced staff will always get offered more work than inexperienced staff. Make sure you include all possible skills in your profile. Sometimes experience will be less important to the employer than your availability.

Eg: A data entry operator needs to be able to read and operate a keyboard; A kitchen-hand needs to know how to operate a tap and pick up dishes; A supermarket shelf stocker must be able to pick up a can and place it accurately on a shelf – you can see where we're going with this...

  • How do I get paid?

YOU NEED A TAX FILE NUMBER & AN AUSTRALIAN BANK ACCOUNT.

Employers pay you directly into your bank account. Make sure you take along your tax file number and bank details (bsb & account numbers), to every shift you work. Employers cannot pay you unless you supply them these details. Calling an employer the day after the shift to give them your payment details creates extra work and hassle for your employer - they might not want you back, and it could effect your PloyMe rating.

WRITE YOUR TFN & BANK DETAIL ON A SMALL PIECE OF PAPER NOW AND PUT THEM IN YOUR WALLET/PURSE.

  • What is a Proactive Casual?

Proactive casuals go and search for unfilled shifts and request to be considered, under the conditions set by employers. This is a great way to find extra shifts when you really need them. You can use PloyMe.com.au to browse through all the shifts on offer and click to apply. EMPLOYERS LOVE PROACTIVE PEOPLE!

  • Do I need to check my email after accepting a shift?

Not if you're an SMS user.

We will also send an Email to SMS users with a detailed copy of the Job Alerts & Job Offers for their reference.

  • How do I set my hourly rate?

You choose the amount above the award rate of pay you want to receive for each portion of availability you nominate. If you have heaps of experience, you might be able to get a few dollars on top of the award.

  • How often should I log into the site?

    ALL THE TIME!

You can search for shifts that have not yet been offered via SMS. Update your availability or location hourly to be sure you are considered.

  • What sort of work is available?

You can find any sort of work you want via the PloyMe site. Casual staff work in every single industry imaginable. In the near future PloyMe will be launching a Volunteer and a Professional version of the site to assist charities and allow skilled professionals to better manage their work/life balance.

  • I can only work certain days and shifts, how do I show this?

Login and go to Availability. You can schedule your availability in hourly units - 24 hours a day 7 days per week. If you only want to work at 4am on a Monday morning we'll still be able to accommodate you.

  • Are my details kept confidential?

    YES

PloyMe values the privacy of all our members. Your details (especially your employment profile) will never be passed on. To read our Privacy Policy check out www.ployme.com.au/privacy

  • Do I need to have a car?

    NO, BUT IT HELPS

Obviously people with cars will be able to reach positions in a wider range of locations. You can also select more than one location to be available in. So, if you catch a bus to the city every Monday for work/study be sure to add this location to Monday's availability.
